Athletics, Club Sports, Recreation
Governing bodies will provide much of the guidance related to athletics, club sports, and recreation activities. It is expected that athletic events will likely resume with numerous safety practices in place, however, it remains unclear if fans will be allowed to attend events. The guidelines below will be followed.
- Conduct athletic contests in accordance with guidance published by governing bodies.

A limited number of student athletes returned to campus in mid-June to begin voluntary conditioning. Additional student athletes will return to campus mid-July for required activities and pre-season practice.

All student athletes, coaches, trainers, and other Athletic Department staff will be tested for COVID-19 in waves as student athletes return to campus this summer. Anyone testing positive must quarantine per guidance from McLean County Health Department and Student Health Services.

Daily symptom checks are performed on all student athletes.
- Follow fan attendance guidelines published by governing bodies.

Current guidelines under Phase 4 of Restore Illinois permit attendance at 20% of total seating capacity with appropriate physical distancing at outdoor events, no spectators at indoor events and no tailgating.
- Expand offering of virtual sports and recreation-related programs.

The Student Fitness Center, Bowling and Billiards Center and Redbird Adventure Center will resume operations for fall 2020 with 50% occupancy limits for activity space and advanced registration for many programs.

Fitness, adventure and some intramural sport programs will resume in fall 2020. Team competition and sport club activities have yet to be determined.
- Continue the Fitness program, which can remain active with remote participation.
- Campus Recreation is expanding virtual fitness activities for students and cooperating with other universities in providing access by ISU students to virtual fitness and recreation activities at other universities.

Continue the Esports program, which can remain active with remote participation.

Esports will continue in the fall using available campus facilities with appropriate physical distancing in the facilities

Varsity esports will begin competing in three titles in fall 2020.
